The anti-inflammatory properties of hemp oil
Topic: hemp oil for pain

Many scientists are unanimous about the ability ofhemp oil to relieve inflammation. This file reveals the real origin of the anti-inflammatory action of this vegetable oil, extracted from the seeds of Cannabis sativa. And what are the different benefits that can be derived from this property?

Important thing to note!

It is important to note first of all that this vegetable oil is in no way psychotropic. It is obtained through a process of cold pressing cultivated hemp seeds, which does not contain, or at least very little, THC. It’s about tetrahydrocannabinolthe narcotic chemical in cannabis.

Hemp oil should also not be mixed withcannabidiol oil. The latter is produced from the stems, leaves and flowers of the plant. It is distinguished by its high concentration of cannabidiol or CBD, which is also a cannabinoid like THC. However, this is not psychotropic.

Hemp oil: Its compounds with an anti-inflammatory effect

– Omega-3

The presence of omega-3 in hemp oil mainly explains its anti-inflammatory effect. There we findalpha-linolenic acid, up to 17 to 20%. This polyunsaturated fatty acid, in fact, once in the body, is the source of many compounds with anti-inflammatory properties. These include, for example, prostaglandins, eicosanoids and leukotrienes.

– Cannabidiol

This vegetable oil also contains cannabidiol, but at a reduced content compared to cannabidiol oil. It is one of the main cannabinoids contained in hemp and moreover the most studied, after THC. This molecule acts as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory, by inhibiting the activity of certain receptors involved in pain. (1)

Hemp oil: Its therapeutic applications

Thanks to this anti-inflammatory property, this product can be used to treat various diseases:

– Skin problems

It is an excellent treatment for treating various skin problems. This vegetable oil soothes inflammation and redness, such as acne, eczema, and rosacea. Its application also improves the structure of the skin and makes it more resistant to infections.

– Neurodegenerative diseases

Due to its richness in polyunsaturated fatty acids and its anti-inflammatory action, this oil helps prevent the degradation of neurons. ALA is known to limit brain aging and cognitive decline (memory loss, difficulty concentrating). Some reviews have even talked about the benefits of omega-3s for slowing less advanced forms of Alzheimer’s disease. (2)

– Myocardial infarction

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory property, hemp oil prevents the formation of blood clots, which cause myocardial infarction. This remedy indeed contributes to the thinning of the blood, when it is used as a means of prevention. On the other hand, when it is used in treatment, it protects the walls of the arteries. Note that chronic inflammation leads to the alteration of tissues, including those of blood vessels.

Which hemp oil to choose?

To take advantage of these benefits, it is important to choose the right hemp oil.

  • Prefer organic products, whose manufacturing processes from cultivation to bottling comply with organic standards.
  • Check that the oil has been cold pressed. Due to its high fatty acid content, this product is actually very sensitive to oxidation. It could lose all its active ingredients.
  • Capsules are preferable to bottled oils. These keep longer and are more effective.
